Holiday Pumpkin Spice Honey Apple Pie - SAVAGE BEE-CHES®

 

Ingredients:

  • For the Honey Caramel Sauce:

    • 1/2 cup SAVAGE BEE-CHES Pumpkin Spice Infused Honey (or your favorite honey)
    • 1/4 cup brown sugar
    • 1/4 cup water
    • 2 tablespoons flour
  • For the Filling:

    • 4 large apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
  • For the Crust:

    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
    • 1/4 cup cold milk
    • Pinch of salt
  • For the Honey Wash:

    • 3 teaspoons honey
    • 3 teaspoons water

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Honey Caramel Sauce:

    • In a saucepan over medium heat, combine honey, brown sugar, water, and flour. Stir continuously until the mixture thickens into a smooth caramel consistency.
    • Remove from heat and set aside.

Toss the sliced apples in the honey caramel sauce until well coated. For softer filling, cook the apples in the sauce over low heat for about 5-7 minutes. Set aside.

    • In a mixing bowl, combine flour and a pinch of salt. Cut in the butter using a pastry cutter or your hands until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
    • Gradually add cold milk, mixing until the dough comes together.
    • Divide the dough in half. On a floured surface, roll out one half for the bottom crust and place it in a pie dish. Roll out the other half for the top crust.

    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
    • Fill the pie crust with the apple mixture. Cover with the top crust, sealing the edges. For a lattice top, cut the top crust into strips and weave over the filling.
    • Combine 3 teaspoons of honey with equal parts water for the honey wash. Brush this over the top crust.
  3. Bake the Pie:

    • Place the pie in the oven and bake for about 45 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.
    • Five minutes before the end of baking, remove the pie and drizzle with additional pumpkin spice honey for extra flavor.
