Honey Tastings, Salve Making & Candle Making in San Diego: Book a Hands-On Workshop (We Travel to You)

Hands-on honey tasting and beeswax workshop setup at SAVAGE BEE-CHES

Looking for a team activity that is more memorable than another restaurant reservation? Planning a client appreciation event that should feel personal instead of promotional? Want your private group to make something they can actually take home?

Book a hands-on workshop with SAVAGE BEE-CHES.

We offer honey tastings, beeswax salve making, and beeswax candle-making experiences in San Diego. There are two ways to book:

  1. Come to our boutique for an intimate session of up to four people.
  2. Have us travel to you with the supplies, setup, and experience ready to go.

That second option matters. Our boutique is intentionally small. It only holds four. We are not pretending otherwise, and we are not cramming a large team into a tiny storefront for the sake of saying we hosted you.

We travel. We bring everything we need with us.

At a glance

  • Group size: Up to 4 people in the boutique; larger groups off-site
  • Experiences: Honey tasting, beeswax salve making, beeswax candle making
  • We come to you: We travel to your location with supplies included

Choose the Workshop That Fits Your Group

Every workshop is built around participation, conversation, and the natural materials that make our work special. You are not sitting through a presentation while someone else does the interesting part.

You are involved.

Honey Tasting in San Diego

A honey tasting is not just “sweetness, but different.” That is the lazy version.

At SAVAGE BEE-CHES, guests explore the distinctive flavor, color, aroma, and texture of natural honey varietals. Our collection includes more than 25 varieties, including Cherry Blossom, Eucalyptus, Watermelon Blossom, and Buckwheat.

Some are delicate. Some are floral. Some are bold, earthy, or unexpectedly savory.

We guide your group through the tasting and share the story behind varietal honey, bees, flowers, sustainability, and the work that connects every jar to a landscape. It is an approachable experience for first-time tasters and a genuinely fun deep dive for serious honey enthusiasts.

If your guests are searching for local honey in San Diego, this is the difference between picking up a jar from a grocery shelf and tasting honey with context.

Beeswax Salve Making

Beeswax salve making gives guests a practical introduction to one of the hive’s most useful materials.

Participants learn how beeswax works with oils and other ingredients to create a rich, protective salve. They get hands-on with the process and leave with something they made themselves.

It is tactile. It is useful. It smells wonderful.

Most importantly, it gives people something to talk about while they work. The conversation gets easier when everyone has a project in front of them. Teams stop staring at their phones. Clients stop making polite small talk. People start comparing notes, asking questions, and helping each other.

That is what a good workshop should do.

Beeswax Candle Making

Beeswax candle making is another favorite because the material does most of the talking.

Guests work with natural beeswax to create their own candles, learning about texture, shape, wicks, and the simple craft behind a finished candle. Depending on the event format, we can build the activity around rolled or molded candle-making techniques.

The result is personal without being complicated. Every finished candle has small differences. That is the point. Handmade work should look handmade.

The candle becomes a keepsake, a conversation starter, or part of a thoughtful event gift. It is far more meaningful than another branded item destined for the back of a desk drawer.

Two Ways to Book

Option One: A Small Session at Our Boutique

Our San Diego boutique is SAVAGE BEE-CHES’ home base and San Diego’s only dedicated honey boutique storefront.

It is warm, personal, and intentionally limited. The in-store capacity is four people.

That makes the boutique a strong fit for:

  • A private honey tasting
  • A small birthday or celebration
  • An intimate client experience
  • A couple or family activity
  • A small leadership or strategy group
  • A private candle or salve-making session

Because space is limited, boutique sessions require advance scheduling. Check availability and request your workshop before making plans around a date.

Option Two: We Travel to You

Have a larger team? Hosting clients at your office? Planning a retreat, holiday gathering, private event, or community program?

We can bring the workshop to your location.

That may be your office, conference room, hotel, event venue, private residence, or another appropriate setting. We handle the travel and bring the supplies and setup needed for the experience.

You do not need to source materials, build a tasting station, or figure out how to turn your conference table into a candle-making workspace. We arrive prepared, tailor the format to your group, and manage the hands-on portion so you can participate too.

Off-site workshops are a natural fit for:

  • Corporate team-building events
  • Client appreciation events
  • Employee engagement programs
  • Holiday team gatherings
  • Private parties
  • Retreats and conference activations
  • Wedding-related events
  • School, youth sports, and nonprofit fundraisers
  • Retail, hotel, and community partnerships

Group size, venue, travel needs, workshop selection, and event timing all affect the quote. We do not publish a one-size-fits-all price because your event is not one-size-fits-all.

A Better Corporate Workshop Than Another Dinner

Let me be direct: another dinner is not automatically team building.

Neither is another tote bag, tumbler, or branded pen.

Those things can have their place. But if you want people to remember the experience, give them something to do together.

A honey tasting creates conversation. Salve making creates collaboration. Candle making creates a shared result. The activity gives the group a reason to slow down and be present.

For client events, the experience also creates a more genuine point of connection. You can talk about craft, sustainability, local business, and the natural world without turning the event into a sales pitch.

Our custom, story-driven gifting can also be added to an event when you want guests or clients to leave with something extra. Explore our San Diego gifting options, including honey, beeswax candles, skincare, and custom gift builds.

Why SAVAGE BEE-CHES?

I built SAVAGE BEE-CHES around the belief that natural products should come with a story, not just a label.

We are proudly woman, Black, and veteran-owned. We operate San Diego’s only dedicated honey boutique and offer more than 25 natural honey varietals alongside honey-based skincare and beeswax candles.

We source with intention. We care about sustainability. A portion of our mission supports native bee habitats and community outreach. We also partner with schools, youth sports programs, and nonprofits through fundraising opportunities.

That context is part of the workshop.

Your group is not simply making a candle or tasting honey. You are learning about the materials, the pollinators, the people, and the local work behind them.

Planning an Autumn or Winter 2026 Event?

Book early.

The autumn and winter calendar fills quickly with holiday team events, client appreciation gatherings, private celebrations, and end-of-year programs. We would rather help you plan the right format than rush through a last-minute version that does not serve your group.

When you inquire, include:

  • Your preferred date or date range
  • Your location
  • Estimated group size
  • The workshop or combination you want
  • Whether the event is corporate, private, nonprofit, or community-based
  • Any gifting, branding, or accessibility needs

We will review the details, confirm availability, and provide a quote based on your event.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many people can attend a workshop?

Our boutique only holds four people. For larger groups, we travel to your location and build an off-site format around your group size and venue.

Do you bring the workshop supplies?

Yes. For off-site workshops, we travel to you and bring the supplies, materials, and setup needed for the experience.

Can we combine a honey tasting with candle or salve making?

Yes. We can discuss a combined format when you request your quote. The best structure depends on your group size, venue, timing, and goals.

How much does a workshop cost?

Pricing depends on the experience, number of guests, location, materials, and any gifting or customization. Contact us for a quote rather than relying on a generic package that may not fit your event.

How far in advance should we book?

Check availability as early as possible, especially for autumn and winter 2026 holiday team events. Dates are not held until confirmed.

Optional Add-On: Bourbon Barrel-Aged Meadowfoam Honey

If you want your workshop to end with something memorable in hand, this limited 2026 release is a strong add-on for team events, client gifting, and branded occasions. Approximately 50 jars remain. The individual preorder is sold out, and this honey is currently available only as a bulk, corporate, or event order of 10 or more jars at $300 per 10 jars. Custom labeling is available, which makes it a natural fit for commemorating a specific event, team, or client occasion.
