FAQ

What makes SAVAGE BEE-CHES honey different?

SAVAGE BEE-CHES is a woman-, minority-, and veteran-owned small business crafting small-batch, California honey. We focus on monofloral and limited-release varietals, responsible beekeeping, and chef-worthy flavor profiles you can actually taste. To include unique, high-quality bee-based products.

Is your honey raw or unfiltered?

Our honey is minimally processed and strained (not ultra-filtered) to keep natural enzymes, aroma, and pollen. We may gently warm honey only as needed for bottling—never high-heat pasteurization.

Where do you source your honey?

Primarily across San Diego County and California—from trusted apiaries and our own hives. And we also go 'honey hunting' to discover unique varietals across the county -with special, limited drops like our Hawaii Coffee Honeycomb when the season allows. This requires cooperation and collaboration with numerous beekeepers and farms. Each jar highlights terroir: soil, bloom, and microclimate.

What does California Avocado/Orange/Wildflower/Eucalyptus honey taste like?

Avocado Blossom: dark amber, notes of cocoa and dried fig—great with cheeses.

Orange Blossom: bright citrus and blossoms—perfect in tea and vinaigrettes.

Wildflower: balanced and floral—your everyday drizzle.

Eucalyptus: herbaceous, cooling finish—amazing on goat cheese or grilled meats.

Cinnamon-Infused: warm baking-spice vibe for toast, oatmeal, and lattes.

Do you sell honeycomb and specialty releases?

Yes we do sell honeycomb—keep an eye out for limited runs like California Orange Honeycomb and seasonal micro-lots like California Raspberry Honey. These tend to sell out quickly.

Is your honey sustainable and bee-friendly?

We prioritize bee health, forage diversity, and responsible sourcing. Our small-batch approach helps us track varietals, reduce waste, and support pollinator-friendly practices in California.

Does your honey crystallize? Is crystallized honey bad?

Crystallization is natural for raw, quality honey and doesn’t mean it’s spoiled. To re-liquefy, place the closed jar in warm water and stir; avoid microwaving to protect flavor and enzymes.

How should I store honey and how long does it last?

Store sealed at room temperature, away from sunlight and moisture. Honey has an exceptionally long shelf life; for best flavor, enjoy within 2 years.

Is your honey organic?

We don’t label our honey “USDA Organic.” The USDA does not have honey-specific organic standards; certifiers in the U.S. apply the general National Organic Program (NOP) rules instead. Because bees can forage far beyond any one farm’s boundaries—often 1–3 miles or more—it’s not realistic for most beekeepers to guarantee that every flower visited is from certified-organic land. Instead, SAVAGE BEE-CHES practices natural, bee-friendly beekeeping and avoids synthetic chemicals or harmful substances in our hives and processing. We keep our honey minimally processed (strained, not ultra-filtered; never high-heat pasteurized) so you taste true, raw California terroir.

Is honey safe for kids and what about allergens?

Pure honey contains no added allergens, but do not give honey to children under 1 year old. If you have dietary concerns, consult your physician.
